Help with algorithm.

I'd like someone a little skilled to answer a few questions for me. I'm walking around with a possible million dollar idea - a mixture of news from around the world and a google/wikipedia database.

So the thing is, I don't know a single thing about writing algorithms, so I am either searching for some help to get me started, or a possible partner to help me set this in motion.

I want to make an algorithm which uses Google to put news articles into a database which sorts it by order. It has to search within hundreds of topics, and pull out the most important news articles based on a few selfwritten factors. And again, then sort it into to grups with the newest ones at the top and the oldest ones at the bottom. Sounds simple right?
